MACON RESOURCES INC.

The Macon Resources, Inc. branch of Shakespeare Corrected is an inclusive, collaborative, and fun theatrical learning experience for participants with special needs and students in the Millikin University School of Theatre and Dance. There are two programs that run in MRI. One is geared towards participants 18+ that meets twice a week and culminates in an adapted Shakespeare performance and another geared towards children ages 6-13 at MRI Kids Connection; a day care for children with special needs and their siblings that meets once a week with a focus on non-verbal and physical theatre. Both of these programs are silly, fun, meaningful, and uplifting for participants and facilitators alike. Friendships are made, laughs are shared, and lessons are learned in this all-inclusive and empowering environment. We love MRI!

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

We are starting year two with our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Decatur to bring theatre magic to Decatur’s kids! Twice a week, students from Millikin go into the Boys and Girls Club and teach an hour-long class with anywhere from ten to twenty kids, ranging in age from 8-13. Acting, Improv, and Shakespeare are all on the table during these hours filled with fun, chaos, and learning. The kids are adding new tools to their “actor toolboxes” each week, and trying their best to keep their “concentration caps” on!
